In a somber ceremony filled with tears and heartfelt tributes, the Nigerian film industry bid farewell to one of its beloved stars, Murphy Afolabi.

The popular Yoruba actor, known for his captivating performances and distinctive Yoruba accent, was laid to rest in Ikorodu after Islamic rites were performed, marking the end of an era in Nigerian cinema.

The final journey of Murphy Afolabi took place at his residence in Ikorodu, located at Mopelufa, near Aleke bus stop on the Ijebu Ode road.

Friends, family, and colleagues gathered to pay their respects and honor the memory of the late actor, whose untimely demise has left a void in the hearts of many.

Born in Osogbo on May 5, 1974, Murphy Afolabi made an indelible mark on the Nigerian film industry since his entry in 2001.

A graduate of Iree Polytechnic in Osun State, he appeared in over 60 movies throughout his career, showcasing his talent and versatility as an actor.

From his notable roles in films such as ‘Ifa Olokun’ and ‘Omowunmi’ to his captivating performances in ‘Jimi Bendel,’ ‘Wasila Coded,’ ‘Olokiki Oru,’ and ‘Idera,’ Afolabi captivated audiences with his impeccable acting skills and on-screen presence.

Tragically, on a fateful Sunday, the vibrant life of Murphy Afolabi was cut short when he slipped in his bathroom, leaving family, friends, and fans in deep sorrow.

The news of his passing sent shockwaves through the Nigerian film industry, with tributes pouring in from fellow actors, directors, and fans who cherished his contributions to Nollywood.

As the Nigerian film community bids farewell to one of its own, the legacy of Murphy Afolabi will live on through his remarkable body of work and the memories he leaves behind.
