BNM’s Baanty: A Spotlight on the Man Behind the Music

August 21,2023
Share:

Ikpon Kelvin, better known as Baanty, is a rising force in the Nigerian music industry. As the founder of BNM Entertainment , established in 2023, Baanty isn’t just a music executive; he’s a multi-faceted artiste with a passion for Afrobeats and Afroswing.

But his true love lies in Afrobeats, a genre that continues to shape his musical preferences and guide his label’s vision.

Born and raised in Agbor, Delta State, Baanty’s entrepreneurial spirit extends beyond music. He actively pursues interests in fashion and real estate, demonstrating a keen eye for trends and a drive to build beyond the boundaries of the music industry. When he’s not strategizing or making deals, Baanty unwinds with strategic games like chess and snooker, and even throws punches in kickboxing sessions, showcasing his competitive spirit and dedication to physical fitness.

Baanty’s journey in music isn’t just about commercial success; it’s about fostering talent and building a sustainable ecosystem. He recognizes the global impact of Afrobeats, calling it “a movement that’s put Nigerian music on the map.” However, he expresses concern about the longevity of young talent within the genre. “While the spotlight shines bright,” he says, “some artists struggle to translate initial hype into lasting careers.”

Baanty believes the key lies in mentorship and holistic development. “It’s not just about putting out hit songs,” he emphasizes. “It’s about equipping artistes with the business acumen, brand awareness, and long-term vision to navigate the industry’s complexities.”

BNM Entertainment, under Baanty’s leadership, aims to do just that. The label focuses on nurturing talent, providing not just music production but also guidance in areas like branding, marketing, and artiste development.

Baanty’s ambition extends beyond his own label. He envisions a future where Nigerian music thrives on a foundation of collaboration and knowledge sharing. He advocates for open communication between industry players, believing that “by working together, we can create an environment where talent flourishes and careers stand the test of time.”
Baanty’s journey is just beginning, but his dedication to music, his entrepreneurial spirit, and his commitment to nurturing talent make him a force to be reckoned with.
