Samuel Awonuga’s Psalmy Exclusive: Where African Heritage Meets Contemporary Style

Samuel Awonuga, the founder and creative director of Psalmy Exclusive, is famous for creating fashionable bespoke pieces that cater to the modern man’s style and comfort.

His brand is known for combining cultural heritage with contemporary elegance, as showcased in his recent runway event during the Africa Fashion Week London 2023.

Each item designed by Awonuga is tailored to perfection, showcasing a unique look that highlights the wearer’s individuality. His designs focus on precision, comfort, and a bold, sophisticated aesthetic, blending traditional influences with a modern man’s appreciation for style.

At the runway show, the Nigerian born designer’s expertise in combining African textiles like Ankara and Adire with luxurious materials was on full display. This fusion resulted in a stunning collection that bridged the gap between African cultural heritage and Western elegance, garnering admiration from the audience.

Despite the praise, some areas for improvement were noted. The use of a single African fabric throughout the collection, with limited colour variations, resulted in a lack of diversity. Additionally, the collection could have benefited from incorporating more African-inspired fabrics and colours to enhance the overall design. A wider range of looks and outfit variations would have added depth to the brand’s presentation.

Despite these minor shortcomings, Psalmy Exclusive’s runway show at Africa Fashion Week London 2023 was a triumph. Samuel’s innovative approach to traditional African fabrics and attention to detail in each piece were commendable. He has solidified his position as a creative force in the fashion industry, and we are eager to see what he will unveil next.
