Knight of St John Int’ gives message of hope to Nigerians

The fourth quarter of the grand Board of Trustees meeting of the Knight of St John International has ended in Lagos with a message of hope to Nigerians.
With the theme “A New Thing,” the group urged Nigerians to keep praying that God intervenes in the affairs of the nation, which is presently experiencing difficult times.
Speaking on behalf of the organisation, Brigadier General Chuks Joachim Amangbo, the Grand President, of Lagos Grand Commandry said: “We are expecting new glorious things to come. The Lord has told us through Isaiah that He will do new things for us, and going by what is happening in this country, you can’t ask for less. You should ask that difficult things you should get them softly for the masses because there is a lot of hunger and insecurity in this country. We are praying to God to secure this country more than ever and also that God in His infinite mercy should provide for the masses and the less privileged who are presently dying of hunger. They don’t even have a good medicare system. All these we are praying for as new things to happen next year.
Amangbo advised Nigerians to maintain peace while engaging with those in power
“The Knight of St John always stands against punitive measures and anything that would not help humanity, the country and God. Our major instrument is prayers, we keep on remembering the country in prayers. Where it requires certain things to be done, we wield into it and ensure that peace and orderliness reigns as it ought to.”
On his part, while calling on the government to have the fear of God in their dealings with the people, Brigadier General Peter Remi Eluyefa, Immediate Past President advised the youths not to lose hope because there is always a future. “Nothing lasts forever. The situation may be tough now but it will get better,” he said.
Nonye Okafor, Supreme Surbodinate Second Vice President, advised the wife of the Nigerian President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu to use her office to end the hardship in the country.
To mitigate the hardship as it is being experienced in the land, Okafor called on the government to open up skill acquisition centres at the grassroots, opening up skills acquisition.
“Many people cannot go to school today because they cannot afford it. These people can be trained. We have people amongst us who are very talented. These people can help train youths on some skills. On the part of the government, they can help by supporting the pieces of training. We as a charitable organisation would join with the government to reach out to the people in training and funding,” Okafor said.
Also in attendance at the Grand Board of Trustees meeting are the Commandry from Lagos Archdiocese, Arch Diocese of Ibadan, Ondo, Ilorin, and Osogbo.
