In Nigeria, the fashion industry has played a significant role and has contributed to the growth of the economy.

The use of fashion to celebrate the cultural significance of our people cannot be overemphasized.

Casual attire is a common feature of the outlook of every Nigerian woman. Nigeria has a wealth of fashion, an industry bursting with more and more designers appearing on the scene.

In recent years, Nigerian designers have become a global trend. More changes and trends have evolved in African fashion as seen daily on the street and at fashion events. Yet African designers hold on to their uniqueness which makes their outfits so beautiful and desirable.

African designs and styles incorporate varieties of colors fabric, and embellishments, many of the components of culture of African wear styles that are characteristic of their tribal society and community or social status.

At the start of the year 2024, Mr. Bala Aliyu and his iconic Brand Roots & Runway introduced into the market a collection of comfortable designs, styles, and statements personifying and identifying with the beauty of an Idoma Queen (Ochanya). ‘OCHANYA. THE CHIC COLLECTION is a collection of designs and styles beautifully crafted from locally sourced fabrics in a bid to celebrate the uniqueness of a royal princess.

The royal style inspiration for women was the core objective of the collection. OCHANYA.

The CHIC collection 2024, boosts quite several dazzling colors of special fabrics and materials which are so perfect to the extent that you can’t make a dress without using the prints or even incorporating a piece of the fabric into your dress.

Mr. Bala’s use of luxurious and royal classic fabrics to make ready-to-wear designs is dearly evident throughout the OCHANYA.

THE CHIC COLLECTION. The collection celebrates the uniqueness of Roots and Runway’s ability to use African Fabrics, especially Ankara-inspired prints. The Brand is vividly recognized for its creative, colorful pieces which are a fashion of Afrocentric, with contemporary designs.

The recent collection is a reflection of Mr. BalaAluyu’s innovation and creativity in the ever-changing world of fashion and style.

He holds that every woman, particularly every fashionable lady would love to wear outfits that can flaunt their perfect body.

As a designer who is driven by passion, knowledge, creativity, and innovation MR. BalaAliyu’s inspiration for OCHANYA. THE Chic Collection 2024, is deep and personal.

As a Royal Prince and someone who understands the uniqueness of Glamour in Royalty, he is well acquainted with societal expectations around Royal and luxurious Fashion.

He has curated this collection as a direct response to these societal norms where no royal particularly Queens (The OCHANYAS) should be “caught unfresh”.

Mr. Bala’s personal experience of wearing Royal, colorful clothing and feeling more confident, class, and Royal is the exact effect we hope OCHANYA, THE CHIC COLLECTION would have on women.

The collection of Bala and his Brand is not just another of their collection, it is a statement to the Luxury Fashion Industry in Nigeria and an invitation for women to embrace royalty in defining and breaking the boundaries of Fashion norms to create their unique reality.
