How to recharge your libido

Most couples usually experience libido fluctuations and if, of recent, your bedroom action has been a bit lackluster, no need to stress; this page has got you covered.

Experiencing low libido at some point in your life is extremely common. The good news is that there are several ways to reignite the flames of passion, and tips that can improve your sexual well-being.

Libido is an individual’s sexual desire/appetite which can be affected by hormones, mental state, stress, brain function and behavioural patterns.
Not everybody’s libido is the same and sex drive can fluctuate over time, depending on the circumstances. This is not abnormal and there is no universal standard or rule of thumb when it comes to sexual drive.

Low sex drive becomes an issue if you see it as one or distressful. While some persons may be open to having intercourse regularly, others may not want it at all. Whichever way it goes, the experience is perfectly cool.

Just in case your sexual appetite is low and you desire more sex; feel free to boost your sex drive with the following recommendations.

Regular Exercise

Exercise is important for maintaining one’s health and help increase your libido. The exercise can be walking, yoga, jogging, or practising your favourite sport. Work out is a great natural libido booster that makes you feel more relaxed and confident in the bedroom.
The place of pelvic exercise cannot be over emphasized as it helps strengthen the muscles in your pelvic floor; the same muscles that contract during orgasm for better love making.

Stress manager:

Being stressed out can interfere with one’s sexual desire and arousal.
The act of meditation is one great way to cope with stress. It serves as a reminder that it’s time to make some healthy lifestyle changes. A healthy way of life can manage stress thereby helping your body to relax and help boost your libido.

Communication:

Engaging in an open and honest conversation with your spouse is another good way to get distress by addressing any ongoing issues.
For a better outcome, try talking for about 20 minutes with your significant other without the distraction of your phones, television or children/friends.
Having a good conversation can bring your lover more deeply into your world, and you can be vulnerable to let them know if there’s been anything missing in your sex life, like wanting a prolonged foreplay or indulging in dirty talks. Whatever the problem is, communication can go a long way in handling it.

Quality sleep:

Sleep is important for your body to function normally and lack of it, is correlated to low sex drive including difficult orgasming. So, getting enough sleep can go a long way toward increasing your sex libido.

See a professional therapist:

A therapist can help to find out if your libido problem is due to stress or another underlying psychological cause. This can be particularly helpful if you are dealing with body image, trauma or shame surrounding sex.
Whatever the cause your therapist can help you get to the root of the problem affecting your sex life and help to treat it.

Reduce alcohol intake:

Alcohol might temporarily lower sexual inhibitions thereby lowering your libido and disrupting sexual functions.
Women have been known to have less lubrication, with difficulty reaching orgasms after drinking, while the men feel less sensation in their genitals (whiskey dick) when copulating under the influence of alcohol.
If you must drink and are hoping to boost your libido, make sure to stick to one to two glasses of fruit red wine.
