Outterspace: Going global with high-end luxury streetwear

Forget predictable streetwear. Outterspace Integrated Luxury, a Lagos-based brand with a soon-to-open UK store, is electrifying the fashion scene with its high-end, eccentric take.

Imagine bold, statement prints woven from ethically sourced fabrics, each piece a vibrant story of cultural heritage reimagined for the modern world.

This isn’t a dream – its Outterspace’s reality, captivating audiences with their recent Outterspace Live Runway Show at London’s Chartered Institute of Accountants Main Hall on February 27, 2024.
But what truly sets Outterspace apart is the audacious spirit that fuels its creative fire. Outterspace isn’t a one-man show; its a harmonious collaboration.
Visionary CEO/Creative Director, Bello Taiwo Akinleye, a graduate with a unique background in quantity surveying, international resorts, and art, leads the symphony. Inspired by the cosmos, nature, and human ingenuity, his designs are a celebration of the extraordinary. Akinleye believes in a higher creative power, and his creations reflect this awe-inspiring perspective.
Taiwo is surrounded by a powerhouse team – a refreshing departure from the singular designer model that dominates the fashion world. Amole Ayobami Zaheed, the Business Head and Talent Manager, is the maestro, connecting all parts of the team – from store staff and marketing to legal, media and finance – ensuring a seamless operation.
Behind the scenes, Bello Kehinde Akinyele, the Production Manager, oversees the meticulous construction of each garment, guaranteeing the quality that defines Outterspace’s integrated luxury.
The success of Outterspace speaks volumes about the burgeoning fashion talent within Nigeria that have a knack for extraordinary creation. This team has taken Nigeria by storm, captivating audiences with its unique take on fashion. Its established Nigerian store boasts a loyal following, including entertainment industry big names like global and Grammy nominated act, Davido; Billboard Hot 100 Top 3 act, Rema as well as one of Nigeria’s biggest Afrobeats acts, Zlatan Ibile. This national success proves the brands resonance and sets the stage for global domination.
Now, the Outterspaces distinctive style is poised to make a splash across the pond, with the UK also being a major stronghold of the brand. This colossal enterprise isn’t ending here, the expansion is imminent and definitely mind-blowing.
Outterspace is constantly taking the expansion seriously in various ways, ranging from hosting a shoot with one of Nigeria’s biggest video directors, TG Omori at Time Square, United States of America to recently featuring in the London Fashion Week in the United Kingdom.
In fact, the fashion brand plans to take the waves global with every merchandise, giving a wholesome view of the streetwear culture as well as giving an eye-appealing representation of these styles.
The Outterspace team is definitely reshaping the narratives of fashion, crossing boundaries and continents a step at a time, country by country, race by race. This is far beyond the UK global expansion; Outterspace expansion is a testament to the growing influence of African fashion on the world stage. The brands upcoming UK store launch will consolidate its hold in the region, and it should not be a scene that should be overlooked.
Overall, Outterspace Integrated Luxury is making a powerful statement that Nigerian fashion is no longer on the periphery, its demanding center stage. The future of fashion is looking vibrant, and it has a distinctly Nigerian flavour.
