Under the bright lights of Lagos City, where culture and creativity converge, the Wear Nigeria Fashion Runway Show held on the 10th of November 2024 turned the stage into a vibrant tapestry of tradition and innovation.


This year’s event, themed “Textile as a Tool for Empowerment and Sustainability,” brought together the essence of Nigerian heritage and the ingenuity of its designers.
Among the standout moments of the show was the unveiling of the Patterns of Pride Collection by Ugwu Obinna Kizito.

This collection, curated by Ugwu Obinna Kizito, creative director of Kizito Global Fashion, is a masterful celebration of Nigeria’s textile legacy and cultural diversity. The collection paid homage to Nigeria’s diverse textile traditions, incorporating fabrics such as Akwete, Aso Oke, Adire, Akwoacha, Igbulu, and Benue textiles.
Each piece was a testament to Kizito’s dedication to honoring traditions, promoting Wear Nigeria-Nigeria textile tradition while reimagining them for modern audiences.

The fashion runway pieces in the collection ranged from flowing traditional Bubu gowns for women to tailored two-piece sets and kaftans for men. Bold prints and vibrant colours were a unifying theme, elevating the collection into a realm of modern African chic.
The designs artfully balanced tradition with innovation, appealing to both cultural purists and lovers of contemporary fashion.
With vibrant lighting and Afrocentric backdrops, the Wear Nigeria fashion runway show came alive with a dazzling showcase of cultural brilliance and contemporary design as the Patterns of Pride collection took center stage.
This captivating collection, a true homage to Nigerian heritage, celebrated the richness of African textile patterns and modern tailoring through stunning ensembles worn by confident models.

The first model commanded attention in a flowing gown adorned with vibrant geometric patterns in red and white, symbolic of cultural artistry.


The gown’s relaxed silhouette, dramatic sleeves, and intricately embroidered chest panel exuded elegance, offering a modern reinterpretation of traditional African styles. It was a visual narrative of femininity, grace, and pride, reminding the audience of the beauty found in cultural roots.
For menswear, the runway presented a striking ensemble that embodied regal sophistication. A male model graced the stage in a dark, tailored outfit featuring intricate white and gold embroidery.


The symmetrical motifs, reminiscent of Yoruba agbada patterns, framed the design with cultural depth. Paired with matching trousers, this ensemble effortlessly balances tradition and modernity, appealing to the fashion-forward man who values heritage.


The audience was spellbound as models glided down the runway, bringing Kizito’s vision to life. The women’s Bubu gowns, with their wide sleeves and relaxed silhouettes, exuded elegance, while the kaleidoscope of patterns and colours added a playful edge.
Equally striking was a two-piece set for men adorned with detailed embroidery, which garnered audible admiration from the audience. This piece and others in the collection exemplified Kizito’s ability to create designs that are both wearable and deeply rooted in cultural identity.

The Patterns of Pride Collection was more than just a display of stunning garments—it was a cultural statement. As each piece was unveiled, the audience responded with applause, underscoring their appreciation for Kizito’s meticulous attention to detail and artistic expression.
Fashion critics and enthusiasts praised the collection for its ability to celebrate Nigerian textiles while maintaining a contemporary appeal.


At its core, Kizito’s Patterns of Pride collection perfectly reflects the theme of textiles as a tool for empowerment and sustainability at the Wear Nigeria Fashion Show.

By using traditional Nigerian fabrics, the collection celebrates the country’s cultural heritage while supporting local artisans and promoting sustainable practices. With this collection, Kizito has proven that tradition can coexist with modernity and that cultural heritage can thrive on a global stage.


Through bold prints, masterful craftsmanship, and a deep respect for Nigerian textiles, Kizito has crafted a collection that is as timeless as it is contemporary, showcasing the beauty of indigenous textiles and their potential to empower communities. The Patterns of Pride Collection is not just a celebration of Nigerian heritage—it is a reminder of the power of fashion to tell stories, preserve culture, and inspire the future.
