CONSENT IS SEXY

When it comes to intimacy and relationships, two words often get lost in the conversation: consent and communication. Yet, these two elements are the foundation of a healthy, fulfilling, and sexy relationship.

Why is consent sexy? Consent is sexy because it shows respect, care, and consideration for one’s spouse. In today’s complex world of relationships and interactions, consent and communication remain essential for healthy, respectful, and legal sexual activity.

Consent is a free, voluntary, and informed agreement to engage in sexual acts, where all parties involved genuinely want to participate and actively communicate their willingness.

Clear communication, including verbal and non-verbal cues like body language, eye contact, and facial expressions, is vital for understanding each other’s boundaries, desires, and preferences.

Verbal communication can be used to convey sexual desires, such as “touch here, touch there, harder, faster, slower, softer, more, less” or “feels good,” all these words are used to efficiently describe what you want. It’s essential to be specific and clear to avoid miscommunication.

Non-verbal communication during intimacy can also be effective, such as guiding your spouse’s hand or adjusting pace and touch.
Effective communication involves being open, honest, and respectful of each other’s boundaries and needs.

In any relationship, consent is an ongoing process that requires respect, trust, and communication. It’s not a one-time agreement, and partners can change their minds or withdraw consent at any time. Consent must be given every time, and it’s essential to check in with each other, to ensure everyone’s comfort and willingness.

Important aspects of consent include:

  • Consent can be withdrawn at any time
  • Being under the influence of drugs or alcohol invalidates consent
  • Being asleep or unconscious means no consent
  • The absence of a “no” does not imply consent
By prioritising clear communication and informed consent, lovers can make informed decisions and prioritise each other’s comfort and well-being.
Consent is sexy because it’s built on mutual respect, trust, and open communication.
When consent and communication come together, magic happens. This is because spouses feel seen, heard, and understood; this can help them cultivate a deeper, more fulfilling connection, leading to a more satisfying and exciting and enjoyable intimate experience.
