Dotz Couture: Changing the Future of African Fashion in the UK

…A Look at Tejumola Oluwagbenga-Ayeni’s BlackFest Showcase

Fashion is becoming more and more global, but few designers can connect identity, craftsmanship, and modern culture as well as Tejumola Oluwagbenga-Ayeni, the visionary behind Dotz Couture.

Dotz Couture gave one of the most interesting presentations at the recent BlackFest Creatives Showcase in Liverpool. This showed how deep the brand’s artistic talent is and how much it is growing in the UK fashion scene.

A Brand Based on Realness and Modern Expression

Dotz Couture was started to celebrate African femininity through careful tailoring. Over time, the brand has grown into one that stands for bold elegance. Tejumola’s designs tell a story about culture through rich textures, purposeful shapes, and a bold mix of colours that reflect her Nigerian heritage while also embracing modern global styles. What makes her work stand out is how it combines old and new ideas. Structured bodices with flowing fabrics, intricate hand-made details with modern shapes every piece tells a story of how heritage has been made modern.

BlackFest: A Stage for Voices That Aren’t Heard Enough
BlackFest is a powerful creative group in Liverpool that works to help Black communities that aren’t well represented in the UK’s arts and culture sectors. BlackFest promotes visibility, opportunity, and inclusion through fashion, music, film, and performance. Dotz Couture’s participation in the BlackFest Creatives Showcase is more than just a runway moment; it’s a cultural statement.

A Show That Stole the Show
Tejumola’s talk at BlackFest was a master class in how to be creative and confident. Her collection honoured the strength, beauty, and power of the modern Black woman. Dotz Couture owned the runway with bold cuts, fine details, and shapes that showed off royal confidence.
The models moved in clothes that felt alive. Each piece was carefully made, and each stitch showed how much the brand cared about quality. People in the audience praised her work, saying that her creative voice was clear and her tailoring was perfect.

A designer on the rise who is ready for global fame
Dotz Couture’s BlackFest feature is a big step forward for Tejumola’s growing international presence. It shows that she can stand on platforms that not only celebrate creativity but also promote cultural empowerment. Her work shows what the future of African fashion in the diaspora can be: intentional, breaking down barriers, and completely real.

Why Platforms Like BlackFest Are Important
For designers like Tejumola, being able to see, be seen, and get help from their community is very important. BlackFest keeps giving these important resources, making sure that Black artists have the room to grow, come up with new ideas, and reach audiences all over the world. Dotz Couture’s involvement shows how powerful these kinds of platforms can be.
