By Patricia Uyeh,

It was a star-studded evening at this year’s Emmys Awards. The event is the Oscars equivalent of  the television world. The night celebrated and recognised the industry’s most exciting talent;  the red carpet witnessed the arrival of celebrities making statements with their fashion styles. And  English actress, Amanda Abbington claimed her purse got stolen from under her seat.

The Sherlock actress, Amanda Abbington claimed her that her purse was stolen from under her seat while she was collecting her award at the Emmy Awards. The star actress had said the purse went missing while she was on stage and granting follow-up interviews.

Abbington, who plays the role of Mary Morstan in the Sherlock series, tweeted: “We went up to collect the Emmy, did some press, came back to my seat and [someone] had nicked my purse from under my seat.”

She disclosed that her driving license and phone were both inside her purse. One of her followers on twitter suggested that her purse might have been accidentally got kicked away from under the chair and probably someone handed it to the staff. However, the Los Angeles Police Department said they had no information regarding the theft. So far neither the Emmys or the Microsoft Theatre, where the event was held, have made any comments.

Meanwhile, Game of Thrones won outstanding drama for a second year in a row, breaking the record for highest number of Emmys won by any fictional series.

Another big winner of the evening was The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, which took home a total of five awards including outstanding mini-series.

It was a successful night for British television too: Sherlock won outstanding television movie for last year’s Christmas special, while Maggie Smith was awarded with outstanding supporting actress for her role as Violet Crawley in Downton Abbey.
