7 Tips on how to spend valentine’s day when you’re single
By Patricia Uyeh
Today is been celebrated as the day of lovers and Valentine’s Day usually comes with three options:
Option one: You’re a couple. Do romantic things. Be smug and loved up and full of joy.
Option two: You’re single. Be sad, alone, and bitter. Sob while eating ice cream.
Option three: Ignore the day entirely.
However, there is a fourth option for those who are single and still want to make the best of this day.
This include:
Be involved in philanthropy
The way to be happy is making someone happy. Instead of spending money frivolously, use your money to bless the less privileged, the sick or any other person that needs help.
Take yourself on a masturdate
A masturdate is, quite simply, taking yourself out on a date, alone.
So dress up and take yourself out for dinner. Go to the cinema alone. Wander around a gallery. Go for a drink. Might seem weird but you are doing yourself a favour.
Cook yourself a nice meal or go out for dinner
This is the best time to try out new recipes and test your culinary prowess.
Stay in a hotel
A stay in a hotel – even if it’s ten minutes away from your house – feels like a holiday. It’s a time when you’re fully able to switch off, unable to do any errands or work from your bed.
Buy yourself flowers
Flowers are lovely. You could invest in nice cheery mixed bouquet or any other flowers that catch your fancy.
Stay clear of social media
It is most likely you would be bombarded by couples celebrating valentine on social media. Today might just be a good time to shut off from social media and do something else worth while may be reading a book or visiting a relative.
Buy yourself a gift
This would be a good time to but that dress or that shirt that you always wanted. Go shopping and buy that item that has always been on your wishlist.
