97% of Nigerian songs lack meaning- OAP, Lolo1

By Patricia Uyeh

On Air Personality, Omotunde Adebowale-David, popularly known as Lolo1, bluntly decried the senselessness that has pervaded the current music scene in Nigeria.

In a recent chat with Hip TV, she said that 97% of Nigerian songs have no meaning and are not suitable for children.

She said:

“I am not sure that we are passing any message because if you are looking at the content of music, what would you say you are buying? It is not like everything is cheap but 97% have no meaning”

She went ahead to give examples of what she deemed as meaningless music before mentioning musicians like Ebenezer Obey, King Sunny Ade and Fela whom according to her, wrote their songs with depth.
