African celebrities need more security – Kola Amusan, producer

Nigerian- USA- based, talented producer, Kola Amusan has taken time and made huge investment in order to address the issues of insecurity on the average African celebrity through his new movie, African Queen.
Amusan who joined the movie industry in 2003 through his brother, Bolaji Amusan (Mr. Latin) revealed to Allure Vanguard how his journey into the entertainment industry started.
“I was with my brother for two years before I moved on to Kunle Afod. I featured in some of his movies and some for other producers before I traveled out of Nigeria to USA. I also produced two Yoruba movies then.
But now, I want to focus on English movies, however, if I get a good Yoruba script, I’d consider that too.
My latest movie, African Queen has been in my archive for over 8 years, when the right time to shoot it came, I had to do it.
I came down to Nigeria to make it happen. I was here during the shoot because I was part of the cast as well the producer.
African Queen centers on security of an average celebrity in African.
It’s the story of Zainab who went against her father’s wishes and participated in a beauty contest. The result of her decision left her home in chaos, as she got kidnapped. The security of average African celebrity needs to be well assured,” he noted.

Recalling the challenges he encountered while shuttling between America and Nigeria to shoot African Queen, the father of 3 lamented how Chelsea Eze disappointed him at a point of losing millions.
“She was one of the major challenge I faced during the shoot. Chelsea Eze was suppose to play the African Queen herself but was on another location and thought she would be done before my production. On the day one, everybody was ready, the equipment has been paid for but she was nowhere to be found. We couldn’t change the day. The hall was 350,000, the equipment was over 750,000, so couldn’t loose that day. So, we had to choose another lead character and changed the whole plan.”
African Queen would be showing in 18 Cinemas from September 7. It features a strong cast including veterans such as Segun Arinze, Norbert Young, Tina Mba and other actors, Ninalowo Bolanle, Kola Amusan, Rotimi Salami, Sean Jimoh, Peter Ijagbemi and Bolatito Sowunmi.
