Allure Tourism: Destination Nigeria
Nigerians travel out to see the world, visiting beautiful, breath-taking places in other countries and continents, forgetting that the country also boasts of amazing tourist sites.
There are hundreds of beautiful tourist sites in Nigeria. We have compiled a short list of our favourite places of interest to visit during the Yuletide.
Yankari National Park, Bauchi State
This park, otherwise known as Yankari Game Reserve, is on an area of more than 2,000 square kilometres where you can watch animals in their natural environment, enjoy its wonderful savannah and simply relax after long months of work. Yankari National Park would be a great destination for people who enjoy ecotourism.
Visitors to the park can climb the many hills or watch elephants, lions, monkeys and many other animals who are able to live freely. You can find the park in Bauchi State, 225 kilometres East of Jos, Plateau State.
Ikogosi Warm Springs, Ekiti State
This place is one of the most peculiar spots in Nigeria. The small town of Ikogosi located in Ekiti State became famous because of this natural phenomenon. The spring bears a point where its warm spring meets cold spring but the two springs maintain their respective temperatures consistently! You and your loved ones can stay at a resort near the spring which will enable you to enjoy the scenery for longer than just one day.
Ogbunike Caves, Anambra State
Located in Ogbunike, Anambra State, the site consists of numerous caves. Local people have always considered this location to have deep spiritual significance. Thus, visitors to the caves have to take their shoes off before touring the caves. The cave system is strewn with streams, rivers and small lakes!
The area surrounding the caves is covered with thick rain forests. The whole site is absolutely fantastic and definitely worth the visit.
Zuma Rock in Abuja
The rock ranks high as a choice tourist attraction in the country. Zuma Rock, the monolithic Isenberg with a human face, is located in Madalla, Niger State to the North of Abuja.
It was once described as the unquestionable watchman of the F.C.T. It is the sandy concealment that hangs like a haze over Zuba Town.
Kajuru Castle, Kaduna State
Kajuru Castle is a luxury Medieval-German style villa, built over 3 decades ago, located in Kaduna State.
The villa is designed with bedrooms modelled after dungeons and several towers with crenellated walls.
There’s also an outdoor swimming pool for cooling off on hot days. From the pool area and most of the castle windows, you will enjoy a fascinating view of the surrounding mountains and isenbergs. The castle also has its own sauna!
Tarkwa Bay Beach, Lagos State
Tarkwa Bay Beach is a sheltered beach located near the Lagos harbour. It’s popular with swimmers and water-sports enthusiasts. It is also home to a welcoming resident community. You’ll love this beautiful island that is far removed from the hustle and bustle of Lagos.
Tarkwa Bay Beach, unlike most public beaches in Lagos, isn’t often noisy or overcrowded. This makes it a great place for some alone time with your significant other or perhaps a fun day out with your friends.
If you are looking for a quiet, romantic time, you should visit Tarkwa Bay Beach on a weekday. Though Tarkwa Bay Beach is a small and lesser visited beach, many fun seekers visit it during weekends, public holidays and festive seasons.
