When will Nigeria start protecting its Designers? Toyin Lawani asks
Serial entrepreneur, Toyin Lawani has been reacting to people who copy her designs.
The mother of two shared a post on her Instagram page, where she revealed that she saw a copy of one her creations on a Nollywood actress, who claimed she bought it from China.
The CEO Tiannah’s Place also claimed to have seen a similar one in Ijebu.
This makes her wonder when Nigeria will start taking the issue of copyright more seriously.
She wrote: “Another one of my most copied creations. Saw it on a Nollywood Actress. Asked her. She said she got if from China. Then I stumbled on it at Ijebu market. It looked awful.
“When will Nigeria start protecting its Designers? Even plus the fact that you registered it, you will be fighting a lot of Ghost. Things really need to change. Nigeria can’t help its citizens or empower them, Yet the ones who strive daily gets Reaped off by other countries.”
