4 Tips to ‘shine’ during meetings
Let face it, meetings are a good avenue to put your best foot forward and shine.
Would you rather be the person who is full of ideas and contributing to the discussions or the one who is just an observer tied to his/her chair?
Here are tips to make the most of your meetings:
1. Ask the right questions
It shows you are active and came prepared. Don’t go to meetings to ask irrelevant questions.
2. Make eye contact/ work on your body language
Make eye contact with the speaker and nod to affirm that you’re listening. Your body language should look engaged and interesting. You should sit up straight, uncross your arms and show how interested you are.
3. Take notes
Take notes of key things discussed. You can formulate your own shorthand to take notes faster. Jot down tasks, key take aways and ideas.
4. End on a high note
You can end your meeting (without seeming like you have to have the last word) by simply repeating the tasks you need to do, or things you need to research.
