Nigerians should address how young men are bringing shame, instead of harassing women

Nigerians on twitter are reacting to the recent happenings of fraud cases leveled against Nigerian youths.

Few weeks ago, a young promising Nigerian billionaire, Obinwanne Okeke was arrested by the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), for conspiracy to commit fraud amount to 12 million US dollars.

The Forbes under 30 millionaire and founder of Invictus Group was held for allegedly hacking into a steel company in the US, stealing a whopping $12 million of the company’s money.

In another case, 77 Nigerians involved in cases of scams and online frauds were arrested by the FBI.

Reacting to this sad news about Nigeria, a twitter user, Ozzy Etomi said that its high time the society started to address the core root of issues affecting the country.

According to her, Nigerians derive pleasure in talking about the immorality of women while they are neglect the ills that many young Nigerian men are causing the country.

Read her tweets below

Young Nigerian men are literally single handedly ruining the country’s reputation and people’s lives, but you go to Church and they still want to only preach to young girls about wearing tight clothes and sex like that is what is unravelling the fabric of society.

Someone said to me that they wished churches preached to the specific ills pertaining to Nigerian society. A woman lost her husband to renal cancer & her newborn within the same month, and his family is circling like eagles to seize “their brothers” property when she has 3 kids

They need to preach about shit like that in church.

Nigerians can wax all day about “runs girls” and sex workers and Queer folks, and nowadays even feminists have been added to the roster of evil permeating our upstanding society, when we have non-negotiable proof that it is actually wicked, greedy young men with wifi.

Internet fraudsters have: – ruined our reputation worldwide – turned us into a pop culture reference joke (Nigerian princes) – sabotaged opportunities for Nigerian students and graduates – made travel an ultra humiliating experience – blocked Nigerian access to so many things

Yet in our society, women are harrassed, arrested, laws are introduced incarcerating Gay people, but we are left waiting for the govt to crack down on this national crisis, introduce harsh sentences or consequences for those caught etc. instead these men are hailed like kings
