Reasons women age faster than men

August 18,2019
Share:
Aging is a natural aspect of the human life.  As we age, our skin over time will start to sag and wrinkle, turning the once toned body of our younger years, into a lined map of age.
Men and women age differently; and clearly, genetics, lifestyle, nutrition and environment affect how the people of either gender age. However,  the rate or space at which this aging occurs is entirely different.
All over in the World, it is assumed that women live longer than men. The reason being that the male folks often engage in competitive, dangerous, reckless chores, and tend to have dangerous careers like, being in the armed forces.
Another explanation includes, the fact that ladies have the tendency to seek professional help as regard health than guys. Whichever way, the bottom line is that women live years longer than men.
Making love and aging varies for men and women.
The Female body responds to aging dramatically with menopause while that of the male body, responds more gradually. Aging affects the different hormones of the human body.
For ladies, estrogen and aging are a great concern especially during menopausal stage and after.
This is when women stop menstruating and the ovaries stop producing the hormone estrogen, with common symptoms or side effects such as, hot flashes, fatigue, vaginal dryness and low sex drive. While for men, testosterone and aging are the dominant hormonal component of aging. It does not bring on sudden changes as it does for women.
Theirs are more gradual, with decrease in testosterone over time- a process called Andropause could lead to erectile dysfunction, reduce sex drive, and also, bring about changes in sleeping patterns.
Unlike menopause which ends fertility in females, men can actually still reproduce and create sperm well in to old age.
Brain aging differs for guys and ladies. Overweight men who are diagnosed with diabetes, or have had a stroke, are more likely to suffer from cognitive impairment. Women on the other hand, are more likely to suffer from cognitive impairment if they were dependent on others for daily tasks, and lack a strong social network.
The middle age stage is the real struggle, with gradual lean muscles loss after age thirty. Men and women tend to gain weight differently.
According to NIH, men usually gain weight until their mid- 50s when their weight starts to drop off; again, often due to drops in testosterone, which sustains muscle. With the women gaining weight for an extra decade until 65, then they start to lose weight too, often due to muscle loss.
It is a well- known fact that the beauty industry, targets women with variety of anti-aging, anti-wrinkle, pro-youth creams and serums, due to societal pressures to remain youthful.
According to the International Dermal Institute, male skin really is less susceptible to the signs of aging. Men’s testosterone levels actually help thicken their skin, making it 25 percent thicker. Men also have more collagen density, a slightly rougher texture and more naturally moisture to their skin because, they typically sweat more and have more lactic acid in their sweat. So ladies are more likely to use sun protection on their faces, as many women’s skincare products like moisturizers and even foundations, come with SPF built in.
At some point, both ladies and guys will lose some hair as they age. This depends on hormones and genetics but, baldness affects more males than females. It has been estimated that half of all men, show some hair loss by the time they reach 50;  that of hereditary hair loss usually happens by 40. Women though very rare, can also have pattern of baldness, generally what they experience is thinning or finer hair.
While both genders can grow old and become  centenarians, the possibility of getting to this age is higher with women than men. The take-home message here is that, men who make it to hundred, are much more likely to be ‘’lucky’’ than women, who seem to be able to endure long–term illnesses better.
Aging should be desired with lines of pride drawn into the skin, leaving behind wrinkle scars.
