Singer Lami Phillips wants us to be a safe space for people

The conversation on mental health has given some people the courage to share their struggles but not everyone gets the opportunity to confide in someone about how they feel.

Singer Lami Phillips wants us to be a safe space for people

Singer Lami Phillips is urging us to go an extra mile in making sure that the people around us are indeed fine and not because they say so.

She shared simple ways to be kinder to people and be a safe space for them.

She wrote,

Many people around us are suffering. They can’t be vulnerable around us because we either 1- won’t listen before prescribing or underestimating their pain 2- record it for future gossip 3- pretend to care and not be consistent or follow through with giving an actual damn.

I have a lot to learn about being a friend, a sister and a loving human being… but at the minimum.. let’s all just be a little bit kinder.

So next time you ask someone “how are you”? Please mean it.. Push a little bit deeper.. let “fine” not be a sufficient answer . Worst case scenario.. they’ll then say “I’m super great” then you know all may be well.
In all.. ask yourself “ am I a safe space for people”?? Namaste #mentalhealth #wellness #depression #anxiety #health
