Funmi Iyanda’s NGO gave me sound education – Oxlade

Nigerian Musician, Olaitan Ikuforiji, also known as Oxlade, has thanked media personality, Funmi Iyanda, years after enjoying scholarship from her Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Change-A-Life.

The artiste said in a post on social media on Thursday that her NGO saw him through primary and secondary education, taking the weight off his grandmother.

“God bless Funmi Iyanda, her NGO gave me a scholarship that catered for my primary and secondary education. She really took the weight off my grandma’s neck.

“She might not even recognize me anymore. She might not remember helping a kid. Myself and my grandma never got the chance to say thank you enough. @funmiiyanda Just know that kid you gave sound education is out here doing what he knows how to do best,” he wrote.

In the comments section of Oxlade’s post on Instagram, Funmi, who recently premiered her debut movie in Nigeria, Walking with Shadows, was elated at Oxlade’s development, adding that she would love front-row seat when he wins a Grammy award.

“Omg! My @calnigeriang babyyyyyy! Of course l recognise you, l am so happy to see you doing so great. I want front-row seat at your Grammys win 💜💜💜,” she wrote.

Born April 22, 1997, Oxlade has been pursuing music right from his secondary school days despite disapproval from his father and ran it up until he gained admission into the Lagos State University (LASU).

He dropped out of LASU two years after enrollment into the History and International Relations department, attracting chastisement from his father.

Oxlade got his music career back on track after pop singer, Davido, sent him messages on Instagram filled with words of encouragement after listening to one of his songs.
