Campaign against gender based violence

The fight against sexual and gender based violence has always been talked about.

But the rate of rapes heard daily on the news, blogs and social media is disturbing.

#Herstoryourstory is a campaign by the EU funded rule of law and anti-corruption programme inviting Nigerians to end all forms of violence against women & girls.

The campaign against sexual and gender based violence is a pandemic that requires collaborative effort by every sane Nigerian to ensure the safety and security of vulnerable women and children all over the country and world at large.

There are about  15 SARC centers that receives and help victims with the process of healing or getting justice.

The services rendered at these centers are completely free of charge.

What is a SARC center?

SARC represents ; Sexual Assault Referral Centers, which is a place where victims of sexual & gender based violence can go to access medical care.

They also get counseled and have a listening ear as well as support if they decide to press charges to get justice.

It’s important to know that all cases are kept confidential

Victims do not have to report to other agencies if they do not want to.

Together we can win the war against sexual abuse. But only if we do it together. If you have experienced abuse or assault, know that there is a Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) you can attend to get confidential counselling, medical information and treatment, and legal support if you decide to press charges. Are you in one of the states in #Nigeria without a #SARC? Head to www.herstoryourstory.ng and sign the petition calling on your state government to establish and fund a SARC in your state. Also, share this video! Tag us and use the hashtag #HerStoryOurStoryNG when you do. The more people who know, the more people who can get the help they critically need. Thank you. #16DaysOfActivism #OrangeTheWorld
