Corps member donates reading glasses to 240 in Kano

Share:

A corps member serving in Kano, Osuagwu Prince-Ikechukwu, has distributed free reading glasses to 240 patients at Muhammad Abdullahi-Wase Teaching Hospital in the state.

While donating the glasses on Friday, Prince-Ikechukwu said the project was inspired by his drive to help poor people with eye problems to overcome their challenges

He said beside the distributed glasses, an eye test would also be carried out on the people and those with cataract or glaucoma diseases would be operated upon, as part of his community development service (CDS).

Ladan Baba, the state coordinator National Youths Service Corps (NYSC), commended the effort of the corps member towards touching the lives of the people of his host community, while urging others to emulate his action.

Baba called on philanthropists, private organisations, government officials and wealthy individuals in the state to sponsor CDS projects carried out by corps members.

According to him, the free reading glasses project was sponsored by Saint Stephen Anglican Church Kano.

Also speaking, Mustapha Shuaibu-Hikima, the chief medical director (CMD) of the hospital, said the gesture came at the right time when some people needed help.

Shuaibu-Hikima said what the corps member has done is a wake-up call for his colleagues to also undertake similar projects that touched on people’s lives.

He called on the NYSC management to give the corps member a commendation letter for his service to humanity.
