Brit Awards: Burna Boy Again loses to Tyler The Creator

Afrofusion sensation Damini Ogulu, better known as Burna Boy, has lost out in his category to Tyler The Creator, American singer-songwriter, at the 2020 Brit Awards.

Tyler The Creator, born Tyler Gregory Okonma, was announced winner of the ‘International Male Solo Artist’ at the 40th Brit Awards held at the O2 Arena in London on Tuesday.

Dave, British-born rapper of Nigerian descent, was among the winners at the event, snagging the ‘Best Album’ category. Lewis Capaldi, Stormzy and Billie Eilish also emerged winners in other categories.

This is coming weeks after the ‘African Giant’ crooner lost out the ‘Best World Music Album’ to Angelique Kidjo, a Beninese singer-songwriter, at the 2020 Grammys.

Burna Boy also made headlines recently for describing himself as the best in the Nigerian music industry since Fela Kuti, Afrobeat legend– a comment that has continued to generate heated controversies.
