Jas Waters, one of the writers of ‘This Is Us’, a 2016-premiered comedy-drama television series, has died at the age of 39.

The tragic news was broken by the ‘This Is Us’ writers in a statement shared on their official Twitter page on Wednesday, although the cause of her death wasn’t disclosed.

“The entire This Is Us family was devastated to learn of Jas Waters passing. In our time together, Jas left her mark on us and ALL over the show,” the statement read.

“She was a brilliant storyteller and a force of nature. We send our deepest sympathies to her loved ones. She was one of us. RIP.”

Aside from the series, Waters is also credited for her work on ‘Hood Adjacent With James Davis’, VH1’s ‘The Breaks’ Showtime’s ‘Kidding’, ‘Hardball’, ‘Save The Last Dance’ and ‘Real World’.

Other projects in which she has worked are ‘Barbershop’, ‘Barbershop 2: Back in Business’, NBC’s ‘ER’, and Taraji P. Henson’s ‘What Men Want’, having ventured into screenwriting after 2012.

While paying tributes to her, Dan Fogelman, ‘This Is Us’ producer, wrote: “Jas was brilliant and had so many stories still to tell. She made an indelible mark on our show. My heart breaks for her loved ones.”

Waters had credits on 18 episodes of ‘This Is Us’, according to IMDb.
