Nollywood actress, Victoria Inyama in a video that she released on IGTV affirmed that marital rape exists and she has experienced it.

She said this after getting so many questions regarding whether or, not marital rape exists.

This is after her colleague Anita Joseph said that a woman who is married should not claim to be raped by her husband except there was physical abuse or application of force.

Victoria opines that sex should be with consent even with married couples. Can a husband rape? Yes a husband can rape his spouse, it depends, she said

She went on to define marital rape or spousal rape as the act of having sexual intercourse with ones spouse without the spouse’s consent.

she added that the lack of consent is essential here because it does not need to involve physical violence.

“So many women are being raped in their marriages but are too ashamed to talk about it, the trauma and the damages it causes is beyond your understanding”, she said
