Tems Drops 7-track Debut EP ‘For Broken Ears’
Temilade Openiyi, Nigerian R&B vocalist better known as Tems, has come through with ‘For Broken Ears,’ her much-awaited debut EP.
The gifted singer announced the release of the 7-track project to her numerous fans on Friday.
In the post, Tems explained that she “poured her heart” into the EP to ensure that it resonates with her fans.
“I poured my heart into this EP because I wanted to share it with you. Thank you for sticking by me. ‘For Broken Ears’ out’ now ,” she wrote on Twitter.
Tracks on the body of work include ‘Interference’, ‘Ice T’, ‘Free Mind’, ‘Temilade Interlude’, ‘Higher’, ‘Damages’ and ‘The Key’.
In her remark, Tems said the project was inspired by her quest to help those struggling with toxicity of different kinds on daily basis.
“God hid me. And in hiding I learnt the true nature of people as well as the true nature of my own heart. This is for anyone looking for an alternative to the darkness,” she wrote.
“This is for those who needs a break from the toxicity they consume and supply on a daily basis. This is for the rebels because they expected us to follow them but we made our own path, by the grace of God. This is ‘For Broken Ears.”
Born in Lagos in 1995, the singer has continued to pull the strings since she dropped ‘Try Me’ in August 2019.
In April, Khalid Robinson, a US songwriter, had enlisted her alongside Davido for the remix of ‘Know Your Worth’, his 2020 hit song.
