Visuals: Niniola Fights Own Demons In ‘Innocent (Fagbo)’

Nigerian songstress, Niniola Apata has put out the visuals for ‘Innocent (Fagbo)’ a track off ‘Colours and Sound’, her 2020 album.

The 34-year-old songwriter took to her social media pages on Wednesday to announce the video release to her numerous fans.

“As promised guys…new video out now. Innocent (Fagbo) off the “Colours And Sounds” album,” she wrote on Twitter.

The video sees Niniola trying to tell a story of a hypocrite and liar who tries to prove her innocence by denying her involvement in minor crimes.

She talks about fighting her demons while arguing that she doesn’t ‘Fagbo’ which means smoking in Yoruba language but only mingles with those who indulge in the act.

At the beginning of the visuals, she walks into an ongoing church service where the congregations are seen bearing horns on their foreheads.

She thereafter goes on her knees to seek prayers from the preacher who is standing on the pulpit.

‘Satan don fall for gutter, march am, march am. If you find am you run down, march am, march am. I go church on Monday, march am, march am. Deliver me baba l’oke, march am, march am. On my own, I’m fighting my demons. I’m trying to let go oh,” she could be heard singing in the chorus.

“Awon kan fagbo, fagbo. Awon kan para, para. Awon kan fagbo. Awon kan fagbo. Vanessa gan tun fagbo, she just dey light it. Won mamu’yan f’eyin, but I’m not one of dem. I’m innocent, innocent.”

The video is produced by Kel P and directed by Adasa Cookey.

The singer has carved a niche for herself in the Nigerian music industry with her Afro-house style of music.
