Monday: Five Nuts To Snack On In The Office For Better Health

March 1,2021
Share:

We eat and enjoy nuts every single time; they’re crunchy, taste good, easy to find (on store shelves, local markets, and in traffic), and are quite filling if we must admit.

However, we do not take them as seriously as we should. Of course, this is not intentional, if we knew better, we probably would accord these foods the respect they deserve.

These snacks are packed full of healthy vitamins like Vitamin C, and E, which deserve our complete focus as they are healthy and offer a lot of benefits to our bodies.

Bambara nuts, Cashew nuts, almonds, groundnuts (peanuts), are some examples of healthy nuts which we must begin to pay close attention to and include in our diets. In this article, we’ll be looking briefly at each of the above-mentioned:

Bambara Nuts

You’re probably familiar with the local delicacy, Okpa native to Eastern Nigeria. If you know this delicacy or have tried it, you’ve had second-hand contact with Bambara nuts as Okpa is made from this nut.

Bambara nuts are rich in riboflavin, carotene, as well as other vitamins such as A and C.

One of the major functions of this nut is in managing diabetes. They are highly proteinous and contain a high level of amino acid. This superfood also helps in the body’s bone function, boosts the immune system, and promotes digestion.

Cashew Nuts

Cashew nuts are one of the sweetest nuts there are. These kidney-shaped nuts are derived from the Cashew Apple.

Each Cashew Apple fruit has a single Cashew nut attached to its bottom. This alongside others are then processed into Cashew nuts.

One of the reasons why you should eat and take Cashew nuts more seriously is because these bad guys fight off pimples. They are high in antioxidant-acting selenium which contributes to skin hydration.

But this is not the only function of Cashew nuts as they are also responsible for promoting the body’s immune functions.

Walnuts

Walnuts are known to have anti-inflammatory properties. This is all because of the presence of Omega 3 fatty acids in these nuts. Walnuts have perhaps one of the highest antioxidant activity compared to other regular nuts.

This snack helps promote a healthy gut and has even been associated with preventing some kinds of cancer.

Groundnuts

One of the most common snacks available and easily affordable is groundnut. These guys are quite popular and even more popular as they are called by several nicknames.

Some call them peanuts, others earthnuts, and some like us, groundnuts.

Whatever name you know it by, groundnuts are a fantastic source of plant-based protein containing various minerals and vitamins, as well as plant compounds.

Among other things, groundnuts help in maintaining healthy heart functions helps prevent gallstone and even contribute to weight loss.

To wow you a little, here are some of the nutrients ground in single groundnut, Copper, Manganese, Phosphorus, Folate, Vitamin E, Niacin, and Biotin.

Pistachio Nuts

Pistachio nuts are one of the most fascinating snacks you’ll come across. They have a lovely pinkish-purplish colour.

Pistachios are very common agents for controlling one’s weight.

Not only this, but these snacks are good ways of reducing acne.

You should know that the five discussed nuts in this article aren’t the only healthy ones available in the market. Nuts like almonds are rich in essential minerals and perform great functions for the body.
