4 Tips for How to Take Care of Dreadlocks

Dreadlocks, also known as locs, are a beautiful and flexible way to wear your natural hair. However, there is a widespread belief that locs do not need grooming, when in fact, locs, like all hair, need treatment. So, if you’re new to locs or just want to learn more about how to keep your locs safe, keep reading for our four loc-care tips.

Washing Your Locs

Cleaning your scalp as well as removing any buildup, lint, or extra oil from your locs is important. As a result, stop using shampoos and conditioners that leave oil on your hair and instead go for a sulphate-free shampoo. The frequency of your locs will be determined by you, your diet, and your locs. If you work out regularly, for example, you can feel the need to cleanse your locs more frequently.

Drying Your Locs

Drying your locs after washing them is an essential move. Gently suck out as much moisture as possible with a manageable handful of your locs. Start at the base and work your way down to the tips. Finally, use a microfibre towel to tie your hair or squeeze your locs.

How to Keep The Locs Moisturized

Moisture is still vital when it comes to loc care, because dry hair is vulnerable to brittleness and breakage, and no one wants their locs to pop! To prevent your locs from being stiff, we consider using a moisturising spray and then a hair oil.

Scalp Care

Because you have locs doesn’t mean you should ignore your scalp’s well-being. As previously said, the scalp is still skin and needs some attention. Only be sure to use a non-clogging, lightweight oil.
