A REVIEW ON THE 2021 SISI COLLECTION

Fashion has played a major role in defining social classes. It’s the reason why a glance at someone can tell you who they are: an elite, middle class, or a socialite. People’s outfits and the quality of their material are what define people or set them apart.

Several fashion designers in Nigeria use this fashion’s ability to create inclusivity in the garment business. Cosmopolitan fashion brand is one of such Nigerian cloth designers who use the power of social inclusivity to their advantage.

This fashion brand is a ready-to-wear brand dedicated to providing elegant, flexible, and high-quality designs for the modern woman. They make dresses that are functional and suitable for any occasion.

The Cosmopolitan fashion brand was launched in 2020, and it’s committed to creating beautiful and fitting clothing. The clothing is carefully created by using the best fabrics and materials, coupled with a sheer attention to detail, from the initial design to the final touches.

This brand collection has been displayed at relevant fashion events, inclusive of Fashion Finest Africa, Africa Fashion Week Lagos, and Port Harcourt Fashion Week.

This has made the brand a favourite among fashion lovers.
Cosmopolitan fashion brand has a boutique that houses both its ready-to-wear collection and couture studio.

Arimiyau Kolapo Mustapha is the creative director and pioneer of the Cosmopolitan fashion label. He is inspired by his love for art, and he puts in the effort to create wearable and unique pieces that set the brand apart.
Arimiyau Kolapo is known for his creative use of print, and he continues to improve his creative pieces, inspiring and empowering women to express their individuality through his designs. Cosmopolitan fashion pieces allow women to showcase their unique identities by wearing creations that liberate and inspire.
In the bid to satisfy the modern woman, the Cosmopolitan clothing brand decided to launch the 2021 Official Sisi Collection.
This collection appeals to the modern woman’s fashion needs and helps in creating the feelings they desires when using a fashion piece for an occasion.

This is a beautiful piece from the 2021 Official Sisi Collection. It is a beautiful two-piece outfit, a blouse and trousers, and they exude rare styling, reminding you of the beauties of fashion. The blouse has a unique style pattern. It has a round neck and the bodice is made in regular vertical folds in the resemblance of pleats.

The dress has the right choice of fabric; it looks thick and opaque, probably due to proper lining or due to the nature of the fabric.
The blouse extends beyond the bodice, enclosing the arms and extending to the elbows. It has a brown colour that runs in different shades. The hue is flame-like and appropriate for the dress, through the unique beauty it brings to it. It seems more appropriate to be tucked into the trousers. The volume of the blouse is appropriate for the style; a lesser volume would look awkward on the design.
Along the sleeve area, there is a special seam pattern that is unique and beautiful. This blouse doesn’t seem to be following a trend; instead, it seems to be starting a trend. The trouser is a loose fit that flows evenly, but starts to widen out at the knee, and continues regularly to the ankles.
The rear view of the blouse is slightly similar to the front view. For wearing convenience, it has a button at the upper end, but has no zipline, therefore creating an exposure of the wearer’s back.
This dress is intentionally made to be suitable for exclusive occasions or functions with the presence of social elites. It is an outfit that will make you stand out uniquely in a gathering. It is a kind of garment that will create attraction and could easily be an inspiration for conversations when people approach you at a function.
It may be suitable for exclusive parties, but it doesn’t seem to be designed for office meetings or religious gatherings.
The unique design of the blouse may make you feel awkward when lifting your arms, and the revealing backside of it may feel uncomfortable for some people. Perhaps an invisible zip would have been a better choice than the button. The special seam design on the sleeves may easily come off when tugged with a little force.

This is another beautiful piece from the 2021 Official Sisi Collection. It is also a two-piece beautiful dress with a shirt and a skirt.
The shirt has a moderate collar, and it is buttoned down. It has a waist belt knotted in a bow tie. It has a pair of long sleeves that flow evenly to the wrist. It is in a light shade of peach.
The skirt is voluminous but appropriate for the design. If it had been slimmer, it wouldn’t have flattered the dress. It seems to wrap the waist tightly, but gradually and evenly spreads out towards the hem.
The skirt is in a light shade of brown, which contrasts beautifully and blends with the colour of the shirt. It has a split that extends to the knee and works perfectly for the design.
The skirt is embellished with pleats which look narrower, close to the waist, but spread in volume along the skirt to the hem. This dress has been intentionally designed for exclusive functions, and it will resonate at high-profile occasions such as fashion and entertainment shows. It is also suitable for official meetings and religious gatherings. But it hasn’t been designed for casual gatherings.
The back-view of this dress is similar to the front-view, the plainness of the colours and the pleats of the skirt. The fabric used in crafting the skirt seems to be right for the design.
The pleats on the skirt don’t look even, and this has reduced its beauty. Perhaps if the designer had taken more time to create the pleats, the skirt would have come out more glamorous. The fabric used in making the shirt is too thin and looks like it lacks substantial quality.

This is another beautiful fashion piece from the 2021 Official Sisi Collection. It is a one-piece garment. It has a boat neckline that reveals the upper part of the chest and extends slightly towards the shoulder. The sleeves are short, puffy, and fitted at the lower end, reaching between the shoulders and elbows.
This dress is a ball gown, in the sense that the bodice is fitted but spreads out at the hem, and it doesn’t overwhelm the wearer.

The dress is embellished with pleats below the waist. These pleats are evenly crafted, and they add some beauty and style to the dress.
The shoulders are balanced, and the sleeves aren’t overwhelming the bodice. There is also a balance between the hem and the bodice. The fashion elements of this dress are in the right proportion and uniformity. There is harmony between its elements.

The quality of the fabric is right for the design. It looks thick and well-woven with cotton. The seams don’t look out of place. They look straight, even, and they lie flat. There are no puckered seams along the dress. The seams look finished and align properly.

This dress is intentionally designed to be worn to high-profile functions. It will be appropriate for a religious gathering, exclusive fashion and entertainment shows. It’s appropriate for occasions such as weddings and birthday parties.
It has a whitish-blue colour. This makes the dress feel substandard because the two colours didn’t blend properly. It gives the dress an inferior vibe and reduces the quality of its visual appeal.

The design is not unique, and it seems to be following a trend. It doesn’t offer a fresh perspective but is common and derived. The dress would have also done better if more unique embellishments were attached to it. Due to its style and design, you may look overly dressed if you wear it to an official meeting.
The 2021 Official Sisi Collection is saturated with dresses that would suit elites and help women feel their best when wearing them. The intention behind this collection is to help the modern woman look beautiful, elegant, and be able to make a fashion and social statement with the outfits. And to help women create a fashion history.
