Lionsgate Acquires its First Movie from Nigeria: “A Soldier’s Story II- Return From The Dead”

“A Soldier’s Story 2- Return from the Dead,” a Nigerian blockbuster, has become the first Nollywood film to be distributed by Lionsgate.

“A Soldier’s Story 2- Return from the Dead” is a sequel to the award-winning film “A Soldier’s Story.”

The film, which was shot in Nigeria, stars Academy Award nominee Hollywood actor Eric Roberts, as well as Nigerian actors Daniel K Daniel, Somekele Idalamah, Linda Ejiofor, Tope Tedela, and a slew of other big names. Martin Gbados produced it, and Frankie Ogar, an award-winning director, directed it.

Strawberry Fields, according to the distribution agent, is ready to make strides into Africa. “We are happy to begin his journey with such a powerful movie,” he added.

“A Soldier’s Story II: Return From The Dead” is a story about two countries, Nigeria and Watz Republic, a fictional country on Africa’s west coast, and the fine line between love, hope, and survival in the face of corruption.

With a very deliberate plot, “A Soldier’s Story II: Return from the Dead” will take the audience on an adrenaline-pumped emotional rollercoaster as it highlights issues that the majority of the world is slowly becoming familiar with, such as terrorism, emigration, rape, civil rights, international trade and relations.

Confirming the new achievement, ‘A Soldier’s Story II’ producer, Martin Gbados wrote on Instagram:

“WE GLOBAL NOW. This is the feeling you have when Lions Gate Studios is distributing your movie @soldierstory2 across America and Canada. First Nigerian Movie distributed by Lions Gate. All Streaming platforms and Pay TV in America are showing A Soldier’s Story 2- Return from the Dead. Apple iTunes, Google Play Movies, Vudu, Amazon Video, Microsoft Store, Xbox FandangoNOW, YouTube, Redbox, Comcast Xfinity, DIRECTV.”
