Review: DAK Brand’s Depth And Creativity In The Make Me Bold Collection

By Yemisi Suleiman

I was struck by the depth and creativity displayed in the Make Me Bold Collection under the guidance of Oluwadamilola Agbede, a fast-rising Nigerian fashion designer and CEO of DAK Fashion Brand.

The collection captures the attention of fashion enthusiasts with its blend of minimalist sophistication and bold, daring designs.

Comprising of black and white dresses, Make Me Bold Collection was inspired by women who dare to be bold and beautiful.

This collection is not only for those within the Nigerian diaspora but also for a global audience who wants to be simple and chic.

Each piece serves as a statement of identity and personal style, coupled with the comfort and functionality necessary for daily wear.

Analysis of the black dress

This dress has an elegant and modern design with a few standout features:
Colour and Pattern: The black base colour combined with a subtle white abstract pattern gives the dress a sophisticated and stylish look. The pattern is not overwhelming and adds visual interest without being too busy.
Cut and Style: The halter neckline is flattering and highlights the shoulders and collarbone. The front cutout adds a hint of allure, while the high slit at the bottom enhances the dress’s sensuality without being overly revealing. The cutout and slit created a nice balance between modesty and boldness.
Fit and Silhouette: The dress seems to fit well, emphasizing the figure while providing a flowing, graceful silhouette. The fabric drapes nicely, contributing to a refined appearance.
Belt Detail: The addition of a belt at the waist adds definition and breaks up the pattern, helping to accentuate the wearer’s waistline.
Overall, the dress is a blend of elegance and modern flair, making it suitable for a variety of occasions, from formal events to stylish social gatherings.

The white dress is stylish and elegant

Here’s a detailed critique:
Colour and Fabric: The off-white colour is both timeless and versatile, giving the outfit a fresh and clean appearance.
The fabric appears to have a soft, smooth texture with a slight sheen, adding a luxurious feel to the overall look.
Design and Fit: The dress has a well-tailored fit that complements the wearer’s figure. The ruching at the waist creates a flattering silhouette, drawing attention to the natural curves. The slit on the leg adds a touch of sophistication and a hint of allure without being overly revealing.
Sleeves: The puffed sleeves are a standout feature, adding volume and interest to the outfit. They give a nod to vintage fashion while still keeping the overall look modern.
Accessories: The gold watch and bracelet are subtle yet effective accessories that enhance the outfit without overshadowing it. The dangling earrings add elegance and draw attention to the face.

Hair and Makeup: The hairstyle, with loose waves, complements the dress’s elegance, while the makeup accentuates the natural beauty of the wearer, particularly the radiant smile, which is the highlight of the look.
Overall Impression: This outfit is a beautiful blend of classic and contemporary elements, making it suitable for formal events or special occasions. The wearer carries the look with confidence and grace, making it even more appealing.

In conclusion, as a newbie in the fashion industry, Oluwadamilola Agbede’s efforts in Make Me Bold Collection are commendable, with the hope of better designs and innovations.
