Peppermint is a fragrant plant that belongs to the mint family. It’s a hybrid mint that combines the flavours of spearmint and watermint.

Peppermint essential oil is derived from the leaves of the peppermint plant and has a wide range of applications.

  1. To Get Rid of a Cold

Putting a few drops of peppermint oil in a bowl of hot water and inhaling the vapours to nurse a cold is a traditional home treatment. The menthol component aids in the treatment of sinusitis and sore throats.

  1. Provide joint pain relief

Joint pain may be excruciating, and it’s a frequent condition in the winter, particularly among the elderly. Peppermint oil has been used to alleviate joint discomfort for a long time. Apply a few drops of the oil to the afflicted region, along with a few drops of lavender oil. They have a miraculous ability to calm nerves and relieve pain.

  1. Treats Itchy Scalp

Itchy scalp is a common problem. Having to face dust and pollution every day, all those particles can cause havoc for your hair. Peppermint oil can help treat itchy scalp and bring about a sense of freshness. Add two drops to your shampoo and watch it work its magic.

  1. Can Treat Headache

Peppermint oil almost works like a balm, bring about instant relief from headaches. Since it works wonders in relaxing tensed muscles, you can apply a drop or two on your forehead and massage gently.

  1. Is Effective in the Treatment of Indigestion

Indigestion, bloating, and gas have all been reported to be relieved by peppermint tea. You may also drink a cup of warm water with a drop of peppermint oil in it before meals.
