5 Ways to design your living room based on your love language

Your love language plays a huge role in how you interact with the world. Your preferences, the “vibes” you enjoy, your ways of connecting with others, and even the way you arrange your space all match your personality, your heart and the way you love. In terms of home design, the living room is one of the most inviting rooms in the house.

Living rooms are primarily areas for intimacy, closeness, conversation, and connection outside of the bedroom.

Here are a few tips to design your living room based on your love language:

QUALITY TIME: Bring the furniture together to create a sense of socialization. If your love language is Quality Time, you obviously love spending time with people. As a person who loves quality time, you love spaces that are created to make connections. So, your furniture should be designed to face inward so the room feels circular.

ACT OF SERVICE: Create Hospitality Opportunities & ‘Stations’

The person whose love language is Acts of Service, gives and goes about doing for others. As a naturally giving person, when someone walks into your living room the entire house should make them feel welcome and comfortable. Someone might see a coffee bar in your living room, complete with cold/hot brew, mini cups, and self-serve cream and sugar.

WORDS OF AFFIRMATION: Designate Areas for Deep Conversation

Words of Affirmation resonate with many people, so things like motivational posters on the wall, a guestbook you can write in, and other ways to show your affection may be a good match. As someone who enjoys conversation, it may also be a good idea for you to set up areas in your living room where you can cozy up and have a heart-to-heart conversation.

PHYSICAL TOUCH: Invest in Comfortable & Cozy Furniture

As a physical touch kind of person, you enjoy any opportunity to be close and personal with those in your space. The result may be one large couch instead of two armchairs: so, you can cuddle up with loved ones, or an oversized blanket to cover more than one person rather than smaller ones.
