Why relationship is sweeter when money is involved — Actress Mojisola Adebanjo

August 8,2021
Share:

Beautiful and bold actress, Mojisola Adebanjo ushered us into her world as she opens up about sex, relationship, marriage and the huge role money plays in love affairs.

Background

My childhood was interesting because I come from a polygamous family. I always had people around me. My father loved to take care of both the people he knew and those he did not know. So, there were always people in our home. Me and my siblings were always at home with my mother, who was the only wife at home at the time. I am the last child of the family and my father did not allow anybody to touch me. Indeed, my childhood was fun.

Education

For my elementary education, I attended Totland Primary School in Ikorodu, Lagos. For my secondary school education, I went to Livingstone College, also in Ikorodu. Then, I moved to Cotonou, Benin Republic, where I attended Esep Le Berger Universite (The Shepherd University). I studied Accounting and graduated in 2016.

Acting

Acting began for me in 2019, but right from when I was a child, I had always wanted to be an actress. But, I had to complete my education first. I started attending auditions when I was in secondary school. In 2019, I met someone who introduced me to Nollywood and ever since, I have been pushing myself to get to where I am.

Family

My parents were supportive right from the start but they wanted me to complete my education first. I wish my dad were still alive because he really supported me. My siblings too have been supportive.

Career

It has been fulfilling because it is what I am passionate about. This is what I love to do and I am always glad to get any role. However, the career is not yet lucrative. I pray it becomes lucrative soon because I know I am talented. But, it is not just about the money for me.

Movies

I always try to put in my best in whatever movie I’m featured in, irrespective of what I am paid. If I interpret a role well and make it believable, I will definitely get more roles.

I look forward to playing the role of a village girl. I want to be challenged to do that.

Lessons

In the course of my career, I have learnt not to give up and to always motivate myself. I am also prayerful. In addition, I have learnt to put in my best in any movie I feature in, in order to be referred to other people. I have also learnt to be myself at all times.

Challenges

Being stressed on set is a major challenge. Another challenge is that most established actors look down on one (up-and-coming actors) when one is on set with them. However, things like that don’t get to me because I know it is currently their time and I would still get there.

Embarrassment

I have never had an embarrassing moment with a fan.

Fears

The greatest fear I have is not achieving all my goals.

Harassment

I have never been a victim of sexual harassment and I do not pray to have such experience.

Attention

My face gets me the most attention. People tell me I am pretty. I have got different acting gigs as a result of my beauty.

Love

I have not really done anything weird for love. There is nothing I have done that others have not done. However, I had a funny experience while trying to get to my boyfriend’s house during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020.

Men

I look out for a man who is hard-working, prayerful, caring and trustworthy.

Many Nigerian men are scared of getting married to actresses because they have a wrong perception about them. They think we are not trustworthy, and are just after their money. But, we are just human like everybody else. We (actresses) want to settle down too. We want to start families and have children.

Love

I don’t think love is enough to make a relationship work. There are other factors such as loyalty and trust. Money is the icing on the cake. A relationship is sweeter when money is available. When I am in a relationship, I love easily.

Cheating

I cannot cope with a cheating partner. I am very loyal, so dating a cheating partner would hurt me because I will not cheat if I am in a committed relationship. Nowadays, people cheat a lot. Even if he (lover) wants to cheat, he should not bring it close to me. The moment I find out about it, we would have issues. If I catch him cheating and he apologises, I will forgive him. However, if he continues cheating, I would know he is not loyal to me.

Sacrifice

My career comes first. I had to resign from the job I was doing in order to pursue my acting career. If a guy really loves me, he would support my passion for acting.

Crush

Wizkid is my celebrity crush. I love everything about him. I would be the happiest girl in the world if I could go on a date with him. I have been dreaming of it for some time.

Relaxation

I am very social and I like to unwind with friends. I love having fun, attending parties, being at the beach and ‘clubbing.’

Body

I don’t intentionally flaunt my body. I always try to be myself at all times. I live for me; I don’t care about people’s criticisms. It is my body and I can choose to do whatever I want with it. I see it as just showing off my God-given beauty.

Messages

I get some weird and nasty messages from some male fans, especially on social media.

Fashion

I always love to look good and elegant. I love to dress stylishly, so that whenever I step into any occasion, people would notice me. I like being sexy, yet decent.
