Leading fashion visionary Glory Agbonita Ehizuenlen took centre stage as the Creative Director behind Agbons‑GL, the immersive artistic showcase featured at the 10th edition of Heineken Lagos Fashion Week, held October 27th to 30th, 2021.

Set within the hybrid physical-digital format of LagosFW 2020, Agbons‑GL stood out with a bold celebration of Nigerian craft an innovative fusion of textile artistry, sustainable aesthetics, and immersive storytelling. Curated under Ehizuenlen’s creative leadership, the showcase merged traditional weaving, hand‑embroidery, and recycled fabric techniques, aligning with the “Woven Threads” theme that spotlighted circular fashion, heritage crafts, and environmental responsibility .

A Vision for Sustainable Creative Expression
Under her direction, Agbons‑GL transformed the runway into a dynamic canvas: models moved through sculptural installations adorned with rich, tactile textures crafted from repurposed scraps and locally sourced fibers. Each piece embodied the resilience and vibrancy of African artisanship blending time‑honoured tradition with contemporary elegance.

This narrative-driven collection affirmed Ehizuenlen’s dedication to ethical fashion, echoing LagosFW’s broader mission toward circularity and community impact .

Bridging Fashion, Technology & Cultural Identity
Heineken Lagos Fashion Week’s 2020 edition leveraged hybrid event technologies livestreams, virtual reality, and interactive installations and Agbons‑GL embraced this innovation wholeheartedly

Guests both onsite and online were treated to an immersive journey through digital projections, augmented reality experiences, and a physical showroom that showcased not just garments, but a philosophical tapestry of heritage, sustainability, and modernity.

Designer’s Statement
Glory Agbonita Ehizuenlen reflects on the experience:

“Agbons‑GL was born from a desire to honour our craftroots the hands and hands‑on traditions while envisioning a future that is conscious, collaborative and creative. Through reclaimed materials, we tell a story of renewal and resilience.”
Her passionate leadership and curated aesthetic made Agbons‑GL a standout interpretation of LagosFW’s centennial vision for African sustainable fashion.

Impact & Future
The success of Agbons‑GL reinforced LagosFW’s ethos of impact, collaboration, community and co‑creation, as emphasized by founder Omoyemi Akerele, and showcased how designers like Ehizuenlen are reshaping the contours of African fashion

As LagosFW marked a decade of growth despite pandemic challenges Agbons‑GL emerged as a testament to the transformative power of creativity rooted in culture and conscience.
