The Lagos state police command has arrested singer, Inetimi Timaya Odon, better known as Timaya, over his alleged involvement in a hit-and-run incident.

On Wednesday, an entrepreneur named Omowunmi Lawal, had called out the musician in an Instagram post. The lady had claimed Timaya hit her sister’s car at Ikate axis of Lekki in Lagos state.

Omowunmi further alleged that he also hit her sister when she came down from her vehicle to confront him and thereafter zoomed off.

In the  Instagram post, she wrote:

“This celebrity and how they behave @timaya nearly kill my sister this morning. She hit her with his car and run. At Ikate few hour ago, he hit my sister car and she came down to ask him to look what he did, this heartless human was asking for number and she told him he would block her, rather for @timayatimaya to do the needful.”

The lady also shared a video of her sister receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital after the incident.

Omowunmi alleged that the 41-year-old blocked her on Instagram when she tried to message him about the issue.

“He hit my sister with his car and ran away. She is at the hospital right now in serious pain and funniest part is me messaging him on Instagram to do the needful, but this wicked fellow blocked me after reading my message.”

On Thursday, a video of security operatives taking away the singer from a building believed to be his house, surfaced online.

Adekunle Ajisebutu, the Lagos police command spokesman, also confirmed Timaya’s arrest shortly.

In a terse statement to a national news media, Ajisebutu said;

“He is being investigated for a case of serious motor accident. For further details later.”
