Award-wining Nollywood actress, Iniobong Edo Ekim, popularly known as Ini Edo, has opined that while it can be exciting and favourable, there are more downsides to fame.

In the latest edition of Lillian Afegbai’s vlog, she said that a media house once told her that news about her is usually profiting even though it might be detrimental to her own brand.

“Fame will open doors for you, there is an exciting and downside part to it. The downside of it is that you don’t get to really do what you want.”

“These days, it comes with the fact that some people think they know your life. For somebody like me, I think the world feel like they know everything about me.”

“I literally grew up in the house of the public. Back in the days, we used to have magazines and newspapers. None of the blogs. And you wouldn’t have time to defend yourself.”

“I remember coming out of my house and there was a newspaper stand that literally all the newspapers and magazines on it had pictures of me with all kinds of stories.”

“I remember going to this media house to meet the publisher. The guy said there are so many celebrities whose pictures we can’t put on the cover of our paper, if we do, we don’t make sales.”

The 40-year-old screen diva, began her film career in 2000, and has featured in more than 100 movies since her debut.

In 2013, she was a judge for the Miss Black Africa UK Pageant.

Ini Edo was appointed by the United Nations as a United Nations Habitat Youth Envoy In 2014.
