Kidnapped actors, Cynthia Okereke, Clemson Cornell, released

The two actors who were kidnapped on their way home from an Enugu State filming location, Cynthia Okereke and Clemson Cornell, have both been released.

The Actors Guild of Nigeria announced on Wednesday that they had been released.

The thespians were kidnapped on Tuesday, but their captors released them after being touched by the spirit of God, according to a Guild statement released on Wednesday by Monalisa Chinda Coker, the organization’s director of communication.

The statement read in part:

“This is to inform the public that the kidnapped actors, Cynthia Okereke and Clemson Cornell, have been released, unhurt.”

Ejezie Rollas, the jubilant National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, added that their captors had freed them and left them unhurt after being moved by the spirit of God.

In his words:

“The guild has arranged for medical checks and psychological support for the victims. On behalf of their families, the National President expressed our heartfelt appreciation to the Nollywood industry and Nigerians at large for the support and prayers during this trying period.”

He advised the group to always take security precautions and to be aware of their own security both on and off the set of movies.

When Okereke and Agbodigidi’s relatives were unable to contact them after working on a movie set on Saturday, they were declared missing.

After that, their kidnappers got in touch and demanded a $100,000 ransom, which according to Ejezie Rollas, national president of the Guild, could not be covered.

While N1.2 million was raised, according to Rollas, the kidnappers made fun of their efforts.
