Refined Power: Oluwasegun Benedict Ajibola’s Desired Collection is a quiet revelation

In a fashion world where louder often seems better, Oluwasegun Benedict Ajibola is charting a different path—one where elegance whispers, structure speaks, and fabric tells a story.

With his latest collection, DESIRED, the designer behind the O.B.A. brand offers a refreshingly cohesive and confidently understated statement on modern femininity and power dressing.

This collection, comprising about five distinct looks, is a study in restraint and control. It’s built almost entirely around two fabrics—off-white lace and olive green mikado—and yet, it feels anything but repetitive.

The secret lies in the details: the way he cuts, layers, and juxtaposes textures to create movement and mood. Every look in DESIRED is grounded with high-waisted olive green mikado trousers, creating a visual thread that ties the collection together while allowing each top to take the spotlight in its own way.

One of the standout pieces, Pill, is a sharply tailored two-piece that reimagines the power suit. The blazer, with its wide lapels and strong shoulders, commands attention, while the matching flared trousers elongate the silhouette.

But the real twist comes from what lies beneath—a fitted corset with a sweetheart neckline that softens the look without compromising its edge. It’s a bold but refined statement, and one that perfectly captures Ajibola’s ability to play with dualities.

Then there’s Mint, a design that’s more ethereal but no less impactful. A sheer, floral-patterned lace blouse with delicate fringes at the hem feels almost weightless against the grounded, structured pants.

The contrast is striking—soft lace meeting firm mikado—and yet it feels completely natural. It’s the kind of look that doesn’t shout, but stays with you long after it’s seen.

What makes DESIRED truly impressive is its restraint. In a time when designers often aim to pack every idea into a single collection, Ajibola focuses instead on precision. The palette is tight, the materials are few, but the impact is undeniable. There’s a quiet confidence in sticking to one core idea and executing it beautifully—and that’s exactly what he’s done.

If there’s any room for growth, it might be in exploring more color or pushing silhouettes a bit further. But even that feels like a choice rather than a shortcoming.

Ajibola is clearly building a brand around intention, not impulse.
With DESIRED, Oluwasegun Benedict Ajibola doesn’t just deliver a collection—he delivers a perspective. One that celebrates refinement, honors craftsmanship, and proves that fashion’s most powerful statements are sometimes made in a whisper.
