Swedish Heiress ordered to pay £6.5m in divorce settlement

The Deputy High Judge of the Royal Courts of Justice in London, Leslie Samuels, has ordered 33-year-old Swedish millionaire heiress, Louise Backstrom, to pay her former husband, Martin Wennberg, 39, a substantial settlement of over £6.5 million.

The decision comes after the couple’s six-year marriage came to an end, leaving them entangled in a bitter dispute over finances.

Wennberg had initially sought a financial package exceeding £40 million in the family court, but Judge Samuels ultimately ruled against such an exorbitant amount.

Daily Mail reported the details of the case, shedding light on the judge’s conclusions following a recent private hearing.

Taking into account the evidence presented, Judge Samuels determined that Backstrom’s offer of a £6.5 million “housing fund,” as stipulated in their pre-marital agreement, should be given significant weight in the settlement.

Additionally, Backstrom has been directed to provide annual payments of approximately £60,000 for the next six years to meet Wennberg’s income needs.

Backstrom, who boasts a staggering net worth of £250 million, held the esteemed position of chairman at the Biltema Foundation.

She also held a minority share in Birgma Holdings (Hong Kong) Limited, a family business built from the ground up under the control of her grandfather.

The ruling marks a significant development in the high-profile divorce case, where fortunes are at stake.

With the order now in place, Backstrom must comply with the judge’s ruling and fulfill her financial obligations to Wennberg.

The settlement not only serves as a resolution to their legal dispute but also emphasizes the significant impact that marital agreements can have on divorce proceedings.
