Owambe Luxe by Rosiey Silhouettes is a Joyful Love Letter to Tradition and Opulence (Review)
The Owambe Luxe Collection by Rosiey Silhouettes, showcased at a private fashion event in Lagos on 2 November 2023, was nothing short of breathtaking.
Creative director and fashion designer Omobolaji Rosemary Olasilola once again proved her mastery in creating pieces that honour tradition while embracing modern glamour. Every outfit in this collection was a showpiece, and together, they told a vibrant story of cultural pride and pure fashion artistry.

The first piece to catch my eye was a magnificent royal purple dress that instantly commanded attention. It featured a beautifully structured corset bodice, cinched perfectly at the waist to enhance the feminine silhouette. The bodice was richly adorned with shimmering beaded embroidery that glistened with every movement. A dramatic side drape fell gracefully from the waist, creating soft folds that cascaded over a fitted wrapper skirt. The outfit was perfectly styled with a matching purple gele headpiece, a glittering gold clutch, and pointed gold heels that made the entire look feel luxurious and festive.
Next came a refreshing lime green dress that was a celebration of softness and grace. The long-sleeved bodice had delicate ruched detailing around the shoulders, adding a playful yet elegant texture to the overall look. Subtle hand-beaded floral designs flowed across the torso and skirt, enhancing the dress’s natural beauty without overwhelming it. The straight-cut skirt was modest yet striking, and the look was completed with a matching green gele, dainty jewellery, and a sparkling clutch purse, making it the ideal choice for an outdoor celebration.

A standout pink design followed, bringing a burst of joyful femininity to the runway. This piece combined a sultry off-shoulder neckline with sheer, beaded long sleeves, and a gorgeously crafted corset that moulded perfectly to the body. The intricate beadwork sparkled across the bust and down the waist, flowing into a layered wrapper-style skirt with elaborate lace patterns. The ensemble felt both romantic and regal, especially when paired with a soft pink gele and traditional statement jewellery.
The soft mint green look was a breath of fresh air, mixing modern tailoring with traditional fabrics. The fitted corset top came with long sheer lace sleeves and a sweetheart neckline, providing structure and elegance. Embroidered with pink and green floral motifs, the skirt hugged the hips before falling effortlessly to the floor. Styled with a soft pink head wrap and a bold red clutch, this outfit balanced softness and vibrancy in a way that felt youthful and fashion-forward.
Then there was the deep emerald green ensemble, which radiated pure glamour. This piece featured a highly detailed beaded corset with fine crystal embroidery, complemented by draped pearl details on the sleeves that added a sense of movement. The skirt was covered in swirling hand-stitched embellishments, giving it incredible texture and depth. Paired with a rich green gele, a matching clutch, and statement pearls, this was the ultimate showstopper for an evening celebration.

Finally, the collection closed with a soft olive green gown that felt effortlessly regal. It had a flattering asymmetrical neckline with one sheer sleeve and a fitted bodice heavily encrusted with tiny crystals. The skirt, made from delicate lace and glittering fabrics, was gathered at the waist to create flattering pleats and a structured wrap effect. This look was styled with gold accessories and a shimmering gele, exuding quiet sophistication.
Every single piece in Owambe Luxe was a reminder of the beauty in our cultural heritage. Omobolaji Rosemary Olasilola managed to capture the spirit of the Nigerian celebration while making every woman feel unforgettable. This was more than a fashion collection, it was a visual symphony of colour, texture, and elegance.
