Makeup hacks for Women Over 40

Our skincare requirements and regimen vary with age. Likewise with makeup. While you can wear whatever makeup you want to wear at any age, you wouldn’t use the same products or apply makeup in the same way if you were over 40.

In actuality, when we discuss makeup, we frequently discuss plump, tight skin, and often neglect mature skin.

For women over 40 who wish to keep embracing their inherent beauty, we’ve put together this list of makeup tips and tricks.

1. Don’t Skip on Skin Prep

Great skin prep is particularly important for women over 40, both in the evening and in the morning, before applying makeup.

Streamline your night time routine with a moisturizer that also firms and lifts the skin.

In the morning, make sure you’re using a moisturizer that doesn’t work against the type of makeup finish you’re after. According to experts, finding the right moisturizers and primers to achieve a healthy-looking skin is one of the most important steps before makeup application.

 2. Pick the Right Foundation

It might seem obvious, but the right foundation shade will ensure a natural-looking makeup application. When choosing foundation, expects recommend going with a shade that warms your skin tone versus one that makes it look flat. Also,  choosing one that is not too oily or too dry is key.

3. Use Concealer to Cover Up Spots

The best way to cover up spots, is to first apply foundation and then go over any spots with concealer using a small brush. Dabbing over the area provides more coverage versus swiping, And make sure to blend the concealer with the foundation.

4. Use Shimmer Cautiously

You’re never too old to wear shimmer on your eyes, it’s just all in the formula. The idea is to use a cream shadow rather than a powder, which can get chalky on dry skin and emphasize any imperfections.

5. Use Mascara for an Instant Eye Lift

If you are worried on how the skin on your upper eyelid is starting to slack, it’s completely normal to feel this way. However, few coats of volumizing mascara can instantly lift the eye area by making lashes stand out.

 6. Prime Your Lips With a Liner

As women get older, lips lose volume, so lining your lips right on the edge or a bit outside the line can give the appearance of fuller lips. Experts suggests using a creamy liner that won’t dry into the lips. A neutral liner or one that matches your lip colour are foolproof shade options.
