Review of Regal Rebirth Collection by K & K Fashion House
By Yemisi Suleiman
At the El-Amor Fashion Show in Lagos, I witnessed something unforgettable. The night was vibrant, the runway gleaming with promise, and amidst a sea of bold designers like Deborahbams Creation and House of Aneum, one name stood out like a gem under the spotlight: K & K Fashion House Limited.

Owned and creatively led by Adebanke Dorcas Akinmade, K & K showcased their latest collection titled “Regal Rebirth: Tradition Reimagined” a name that perfectly encapsulates the aesthetic energy of the show. This was not just another fashion moment. It was a statement.
The models moved with poise and certainty, their garments a visual dance of heritage and modernity. The room lit up with the brand’s distinct approach to reviving African traditions through contemporary silhouettes. From the first look to the final strut, you could feel the rhythm of identity and intention stitched into every seam.
What caught my eye first? A stunning lilac gown that shimmered with beadwork and featured sheer lace details, topped with feathered cuffs and a bold floral applique. It was regal and undeniably so. The garment had the power to command silence, and that’s rare on a runway buzzing with sensory overload.

Then came the vibrant Ankara sets which were structured, colourful, and playful. One ensemble featured a cropped blouse with flared sleeves paired with high-waisted trousers detailed with slit accents, revealing bold red heels with each step. The look was youthful yet rooted in tradition, daring yet wearable.
Adebanke Dorcas Akinmade understands fabric fluency. The way she plays with texture and movement shows not just a designer, but a storyteller. Each piece felt like a tribute to culture, but not in a dated or overly nostalgic way. The styling was contemporary, the models diverse in frame and tone, and the energy was infectious.

The lilac gown, in particular, is destined to live rent-free in my mind. It belongs on a red carpet or at an international gala, proof that fashion from Africa can sit gracefully on any global stage without losing its soul.
While the collection was strong overall, some Ankara designs leaned slightly more casual in contrast to the grandeur of the opening pieces. A stronger transition in styling or fabric shift could’ve elevated those middle-runway moments and kept the pacing more consistent.
Additionally, accessories could have played a larger supporting role. Bolder jewelry or headpieces might have brought out even more drama and helped anchor some of the simpler outfits.
Regal Rebirth is exactly what it promises: a powerful homage to tradition, reimagined for the modern, global African. K & K Fashion House Limited didn’t just show clothes. They told a story of culture, pride, and bold evolution.
Adebanke Dorcas Akinmade has cemented her voice in the conversation of pan-African fashion futures. This collection is one to remember, and one that deserves a spotlight far beyond Lagos.
Rating: 9/10 — A triumphant celebration of identity and innovation.
