Eclora Couture Unveils Bold and Timeless Ready-to-Wear Collection
By Yemisi Suleiman
Last weekend, I attended a chic sip-and-shop event hosted by Eclora Couture for the unveiling of its ready-to-wear collection for both men and women.
The atmosphere buzzed with excitement—a perfect blend of sophistication, style, and community. As guests sipped on glasses of bubbly champagne, beautifully arranged racks showcased vibrant garments that told stories of creativity, culture, and modern design.
The standout feature of this collection is its seamless blend of classical aesthetics and modern tailoring. The men’s and women’s outfits are clearly designed to complement one another while remaining individual and bold.

The designer, Mercy Njama, has crafted pieces that celebrate rich African patterns and fabrics, yet they carry a universal appeal for today’s fashion-conscious crowd.
The women’s collection immediately caught my eye. Flowing dresses with vibrant prints, embody effortless elegance. There’s perfect balance between comfort and style which is ideal for various occasions, from casual outings to semi-formal gatherings. The exotic finishings like the beaded embellishments, flowing gown and head accessories made the outfits stand out. While the kaftan design is versatile, a few pieces seemed a bit heavy for a “ready-to-wear” collection and may not fit everyone’s wardrobe needs.

The men’s collection leaned towards minimalist tailoring but with a touch classical african accents. The deep burgundy tunic and trousers combination, stood out. It exuded understated elegance, with details like subtle stitching across the tunic and a contrasting pocket patch made from the same vibrant fabric as the women’s collection. This small but powerful design element added personality to an otherwise clean outfit.
While the minimalism is appreciated, some might have preferred more variety in textures or patterns to diversify the men’s offerings.
Beyond the clothing, the event itself was well-organized, giving guests the opportunity to mingle, sip champagne, and engage directly with the designer’s creative vision. It felt both intimate and celebratory, a fitting launch for a collection that honors both tradition and modernity.

This ready-to-wear collection truly reflects Mercy Njama’s understanding of the importance of cultural heritage while addressing modern tastes. The pieces cater to a diverse audience, and kaftan for women and tunic for men left a lasting impression.
While a few tweaks could enhance the collection’s appeal to a wider audience, this launch has set a strong foundation for a brand that is set to become a household name in African-inspired fashion.

Overall, it was a lovely evening of style, sips, and celebration—a testament to what the brand stands for: bold, timeless, and stylish clothing for everyone.
