Attending the AFAA Runway Showcase in Cape Town, South Africa, on November 7, 2024, was an incredible experience, especially witnessing Olugbenga Niyi-Leigh, the talented designer behind Stately Styles, debut his stunning “Gents Luxe Collection.”

Seeing the collection come to life on the runway was truly unforgettable, offering a glimpse into his incredible eye for detail and masterful craftsmanship.

The first look of the collection featured a matching jacket and shorts made from African-inspired fabric with lively circular patterns.

The color palette was simple yet striking, and the zip-up jacket, with a sleek black elastic high neck and cuffs, brought a modern edge to the design. It was a fresh take on menswear, combining tradition and contemporary style effortlessly.

Next, a model took to the runway in a short-sleeve shirt and matching pants, crafted from fabric in a mix of sky blue, brown, milk, and deep blue. The distinctive patterns not only looked striking but also paid homage to African cultural heritage, beautifully blending the old with the new.

The third look showcased a deep brown matching set adorned with abstract motifs, offering a modern twist on traditional African patterns. The jacket and trousers had a structured fit, with subtle geometric details that created a sharp yet refined silhouette. This look perfectly balanced elegance with ease, making it ideal for both formal and semi-formal occasions.

The fourth look introduced a relaxed yet polished short-sleeve shirt and pants combo, featuring a dynamic mix of green, blue, and earthy tones. The diagonal patterns added a sense of movement, while the relaxed shirt and sharply tailored pants achieved the perfect balance of comfort and sophistication.

The fifth piece stood out with its beautiful floral patterns in soft peach and vibrant blue, set against a rich dark blue background. The loose, short-sleeve shirt offered a relaxed silhouette, allowing the bold floral design to take center stage. It was the perfect combination of tradition and modern style, making it both eye-catching and comfortable.

The grand finale closed the show with a bold and striking look in red, yellow, and black. The intricate print showcased the designer’s attention to detail, while the modern cut of the slightly cropped sleeves and tailored pants gave the outfit a contemporary edge.

This final look perfectly encapsulated the collection—luxury that honors tradition, blending vibrant colors with sophisticated tailoring to create an unforgettable statement.

The craftsmanship in the “Gents Luxe Collection” truly reflected Olugbenga’s dedication to quality. Each piece was thoughtfully crafted, with smooth stitching and a balance of design elements that made the garments not only beautiful but also comfortable and durable.

The fabrics were chosen with care, offering both visual appeal and practicality. It was clear that every piece in the collection was made with passion, attention to detail, and a true understanding of blending African heritage with modern menswear.
