Chimmuanya Ijezie showcases new collection
Chimmuanya Ijezie, creative director of ChimmyandCo’s has showcased his new new capsule collection, tagged Ezeanaekwu.
The new collection, Ezeanaekwu, is a masterful blend of heritage and contemporary design, an evocative tribute to tradition re-imagined.
Inspired by Ijezie’s father’s chieftaincy title, Ezeanaekwu, “the king everyone talks about”, the collection explores the delicate interplay between cultural pride and modern craftsmanship.
Drawing from his father’s regal presence at tribal gatherings, draped in Akwete fabric and lace trousers, Ijezie translates those memories into tailored suits, fluid tunics, and sculptural overcoats, each piece carrying the weight of history. The fabrics are equally intentional—hand woven Akwete textiles by Igbo women and Adire-dyed lace using Yoruba techniques, symbolising the merging of identities and communities.
At its core, Ezeanaekwu champions sustainable fashion, collaborating with local artisans to honour traditional craftsmanship while fostering community. The result is a collection that feels both deeply personal and universally resonant, a love letter to home, legacy, and the enduring power of cultural connection.
