Grace in Form: Wardrobe 21 ‘Soft Bloom’ Collection Redefines Modern Femininity

Favour Owolabi Oluwanifesimi, creative director of Wardrobe 21, presents a refreshing expression of contemporary elegance and thoughtful craftsmanship of grace in form through her latest piece titled Soft Bloom Collection.

She is a designer with a quietly powerful aesthetic, one that blends intentionality, grace, and modern tailoring into every piece.
Through this collection, Favour brings to life a vision rooted in femininity and elegance, designed for women who move with confidence and clarity.

The pieces are neither loud nor overstated, but it does not need to be, as it speaks instead with precision and refined detailing. With Soft Bloom, Favour Owolabi tells a story of blossoming womanhood; of a designer who understands how to shape fabric around a woman’s strength and softness.

Wardrobe 21 brings a timeless sensibility to its designs, leaving a distinct signature on every piece. The Soft Bloom Collection embraces a calm, considered approach to fashion, while also reflecting a designer who experiments thoughtfully with proportion, color, and form. From minimalist gowns with sculptural accents to playful sets in soft pastels, the collection caters to a woman who values elevated everyday wear and functional beauty. Even in its simplicity, Soft Bloom exudes a beautiful confidence, establishing a strong design identity that is intentional and steadily unfolding.

One of the standout pieces in the collection is the pristine white long-sleeved gown. It’s clean, column-like structure allows the exaggerated flared sleeves to take center stage, mimicking the gentle unfolding of petals. The neckline, a modest sweetheart curve, reveals the collarbone in a manner that is both graceful and modestly seductive. The gown makes a compelling argument for restraint in design, letting form and silhouette become the focal point. It’s a piece that feels ceremonious yet wearable, and its success lies in the seamless integration of drama and simplicity. The sleeves, while sculptural, never overtake the figure. Instead, they accentuate movement, functioning like an extension of the wearer’s expression.

In contrast, the lilac two-piece set introduces a playful rhythm to the collection. The sleeveless button-down peplum top features a gentle flare that flatters the waist, while the asymmetrical handkerchief hemline of the skirt brings a light, kinetic energy to the look. The pastel tone leans into the romanticism of blooming florals, in sync with the collection’s name. There’s a youthful sensibility to this look, one that would appeal to a woman who desires structure with a hint of charm.

However, while the silhouette is flattering and the palette delightful, the fabric choice lacks the texture or depth that might have elevated the piece further. Additionally, the neckline, though clean, misses an opportunity to add a touch of boldness or intrigue. Nonetheless, the set holds its own as a polished daytime ensemble with crossover appeal for casual evening wear.

Then comes the rust-toned jumpsuit, which is another bold exploration of modern femininity in this collection. Its clean lines and wide-leg cut speak to structure, while the flowing shoulder cape adds a sense of movement, like petals mid-bloom. The gold piping lends a subtle luxury, and the overall result is a sleek, confident statement in contemporary power dressing. A piece that is versatile enough to move from a business setting to an upscale dinner or formal event with ease.

Together, these pieces demonstrate Favour Owolabi’s growing fluency in proportion, her restraint in styling, and her consistent design language rooted in clarity and poise. Each garment suggests a wearer who is self-assured, not because of what she wears, but how she wears it. That is perhaps the most compelling thread running through Soft Bloom, a celebration of femininity that does not seek approval, but simply blooms on its terms.
What stands out most in Soft Bloom is Favour Owolabi’s intuitive grasp of form, fit, and femininity. This collection feels like the unfolding of a designer in tune with her message, which seems to be balancing strength and softness, clarity and fluidity.

Wardrobe 21 is building not just a brand but a signature voice in modern African fashion. And with Soft Bloom, that voice is definitely beginning to blossom. Certainly, looking forward to more exciting pieces from Favour Owolabi Oluwanifesimi.
