Fashion Trends: This Season’s 10 Must-Haves

Consumers are constantly seeking novelty and change, driving the cycle of trend. Fashion trends change seasonally or even takes longer time. But with each comeback, especially with modern fashion, it feels like fashion has just arrived.

From the cut, silhouette, design, structure, sewing and all round craftsmanship, they all add to make fashion look new to the world. Old styles have been redesigned, restructured, reshaped and remade into perfect fit, giving the utmost look.


Rounded up here are ten trends for you to own.

1 Corset – This is a tightly fitting undergarment extending from below the chest to the hips. This has become a popular fashion because of its fitting looks and how it sculps the body, giving the hourglass shape. Corsets are made as a single piece or fused into a dress. Corsets have become so popular fashion enthusiasts and has become a must-have piece for every woman.

2 Wide leg jeans –

This style was popular from the early 1980s to 2000s but made a comeback in 2020 and has become a popular trend especially among the youths. Loved for it’s flattering silhouette and elongating effect, it also provides comfort while giving a retro vibe.

Metallics
Metallic accents are shining this year appearing on everything from clothing to accessories especially on loafers and blazers. Confidence is key when wearing a metallic dress. To tone down the shine, pair with neutral accessories and understated jewellery.

    Oversized shirts – This is a loose shirt designed to make one feel comfortable. It’s popular for its ease and movement when worn. Balance with a fitted bottom–trouser or skirt, tuck in or use a belt to cinch the waist.
    You can roll up the sleeves to add some visual interest.

    Co-ord- This is a two-piece outfit consisting of top and bottom. It can either be a blouse and a pair of trousers or a tip and a skirt. People loved this fashion trend because of its versatility. Different fabrics can be used to achieve this style, but vintage fabrics became more popular with this trend.

    Senator suit- This reimagined traditional Rivers State outfit has become a popular staple in men’s wardrobes. Rich fabrics often employed and sleek designs give it the sophisticated, rich uncle vibes. Although some women have hopped on this style, the men rock it better.

    Oversized blazer- This style trends for its versatility and flattering effect on various body types. It also adds interest to a look. Oversized blazers can be worn with various types of trousers.

    Bold Accessories
    Chunky earrings, layered necklaces, oversized sunglasses, statement belts and bold rings are stealing the show. Keep your outfit simple and let the accessories do the talking.

    Boubou/bubu- This loose-fitting outfit has been around forever. It’s staying power season after season is the comfort it gives and it’s versatility. The current trend in which aso oke is employed to give it character has increased its appeal and elegance.

      It can be worn as everyday wear or to special events.

      Sheer clothing- This is transparent or see-through clothing.
      They can be stunningly beautiful because of its sensuality; the subtle reveal of skin underneath. It also creates a sense of delicacy and vulnerability, making it exude sophistication and glamour.
      Balanced with thoughtful styling, it is great for photoshoot and formal occasions.
